Why does ASDK matter ? Well ASDK does provide almost all features that you will find into production systems but resilience and the way it integrates with your environment. With ASDK you will be able to evaluate the full potential of the Azure Stack platform to help you with your digital transformation. For instance developers will be able to start deploying applications into Azure webapps, consume azure functions and much more. Furthermore you can deploy it today (sources are free) on your own system that meet its prerequisites,
Azure Stack provide IaaS capabilities but should not be compared to a virtualization platform such as VMWare/VSphere or Hyper-V/VMM, IaaS capabilities should be used to help you transition smoothly your legacy applications to micro services and uses of server less solutions.
As Jeffrey Snover said, do not try to bring your past into Azure Stack. Jeffrey’s recent keynote from the dev intersection conference will really help you to have a better understanding of what Azure Stack is and most importantly what it is not!
